Esha Peak (12,800')     1 Day

This stunning ski mountain can be seen from Hwy 395 north of Convict Lake and south of Mammoth. It is set back between Mt. McGee Peak and Mt. Morgan offering relatively easy access for a 1 day route.

Starting Point:
Near the McGee Creek Pack Station (7,700') or lower on the McGee Creek Road, off Hwy 395 south of Mammoth Mountain ski area.

The Tour:
After crossing McGee Creek, we will follow a series of steep benches to the head of the cirque beneath the steeper face of Esha peak. From here, we'll choose the best couloir for the steep ascent and ski descent from the summit of Esha Peak (12,800'), about 40° or a neighboring shoulder route, depending on conditions.
