This tour presents a perfect loop trip climbing to an exciting col between Peaklet and Mt. Humphreys, one of the famed giants of the High Sierra. It affords spectacular views and is a great introduction to big days of ski mountaineering in the High Sierra.

Starting Point:
McGee Meadow (8,400') off Hwy 168 West of Bishop, CA.

The Route:
The tour begins with pleasant touring up McGee Creek, then the dominating and extremely impressive view of the north face of Mt. Humphreys and its north couloir, a Sierra steep skiing classic. The tour tops out at the high col between Peaklet and Mt. Humphreys (11,700') with stunning views of the East Ridge and other impressive nearby peaks, such as Pk. 13,112', Mt. Locke and Mt. Emerson. The descent down to Humphreys Creek skis beneath these stunning faces providing a great ski in a classic High Sierra setting.

Preparation:
Previous experience with touring skis, boots, bindings and climbing skins are required. Previous acclimatization with a day or more above 8,000' and a night sleeping near the trailhead are always recommended.
